Kokura Stripes was originally used to make Japanese hakama trousers, then later to make school uniforms during the Meiji era. I respect our ancestors for their excellent design sense. Kokura Stripes, the Japanese version of denim, both durable and strong, was suited to clothing worn by young male students. Yarn--dyeing, with two types of twisted yarns, results in a solid color fabric, which has an interesting effect due to the 2 colors used.
